In the amazing Douro Valley you can find three spots classified by UNESCO as world heritage: the Alto Douro Wine Region, the Archaeological Park of Vale do Côa and the Olaria Negra de Bisalhães. With about 620.000 acres of extension, the Douro Valley Wine Region originates from the territorial delimitation of 1756, the date of the first demarcation of the 'Vineyards of the Alto Douro', which defined the first institutional model of organization of a wine region worldwide. Originally established to regulate the production of fortified wine that we call ‘Port wine’, today the RDD circumscribes the Controlled Denomination of Origin for Port and Douro wines. Most of the vineyards are planted on the steep slopes of the Douro River and its tributaries, where the terraces and the patamares create breathtakingly beautiful landscapes. Every wine lover should visit the Douro Valley at least once in his life.

“Best day in Portugal! Highly recommend this tour! Alfredo is an amazing host - super friendly, passionate and knowledgeable. He answered our many questions and taught us a lot. The day was also perfectly planned - several exclusive wineries and tastings, an excellent 3 course meal for lunch and a lovely cruise on the Douro River. Not to be missed if you are close to the Porto/Douro Valley area. Thanks a lot Alfredo!”
